Money for Groceries - Great News for New York City School Families

New York State has just introduced the PEBT, a new benefit that gives every New York City Public School family an amount of $420.00 per child for groceries. That means if you have 4 children, you will receive $1,680.00.

The good news about this benefit is that you do not need to sign up. If you have a child or children in the New York City Public School system, regardless of your income or immigration status, you will receive the money.

If you already have an EBT card, or a Medicaid card, the money will automatically be added to your card. If you do not have an EBT card, you will receive one in the mail. If you are concerned that theState of New York may not have your correct address, you can call 1-833-452-0096 or send an email to

Families with children in non public schools, should contact the the New York State office of Temporary and Disability Assistance to learn if they are eligible.
