DCWP Encourages New Yorkers to File Their Taxes Online
If your family earned $68,000 or less or you're a single filer who earned $48,000 or less, use NYC Free Tax Prep to file for free and keep your whole refund. NYC Free Tax Prep offers trusted, professional services, including virtual and in-person filing. New Yorkers can use Assisted Self-Prep, which allows them to complete their own tax return safely from home using a secure digital system and an IRS certified VITA/TCE volunteer preparer will be available by phone or email to answer any questions. DCWP Shares Important Information with Domestic Workers and Their Employers
DCWP recently created a multilingual publication that provides important health and safety information for domestic workers and their employers to help them stay safe during COVID-19—including recommended best practices to reduce and prepare for risk of transmission, paid safe and sick leave information, checklists for a healthy and safe workplace, and other City & State resources. Employers are also encouraged to attend an upcoming Virtual Roundtable for Employers of Domestic Workers to discuss the new amendments to NYC's Paid Safe and Sick Leave Law with DCWP Commissioner Salas and other worker organizations on Tuesday, March 2 at 8pm. DCWP Celebrates America Saves Week
This week, DCWP participated in America Saves Week to encourage savers to set goals to achieve financial stability. Each day featured a different theme including: Save Automatically, Save for the Unexpected, Save to Retire, Save by Reducing Debt, and Save as a Family. DCWP reminded New Yorkers that if they need help reaching their savings goals to meet with a Financial Empowerment Center counselor for free, professional one-on-one financial counseling. DCWP Urges Eligible New Yorkers to Schedule Their COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment
Eligible New Yorkers can schedule their appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Vax4NYC.nyc.gov—which now has information available in 10 languages—or can call 877-VAX-4NYC to schedule by phone. Under NYC’s Paid Safe and Sick Leave Law, workers can use their sick leave to take time off from work to get the vaccine. Learn more about your rights under the Law at nyc.gov/workers.
